Traditional Pooja Room and Doorway Floral Decor
I design traditional floral setups for pooja rooms and entrances using fresh, fragrant flowers. Whether it is a small mandir or a grand housewarming, I create designs that make your space feel warm and sacred.
A full floral arch made of pink and white roses frames the main door for a housewarming. Inside, you can see the pooja room and deities are also decorated with colorful flower garlands.
This is a traditional pooja room door frame, or 'Mantapa', decorated with colorful garlands. I used marigolds, chrysanthemums, and roses to create a vibrant and auspicious look for the sacred space.
A simple and elegant pooja room decoration. The mandir is framed with thick garlands of white, yellow, and red flowers, with hanging jasmine and rose strings adding a fragrant touch.
Here I've decorated a pooja space with a backdrop of banana leaves and floral arrangements. The details include a parrot made from flower petals perched on a brass lamp and custom jasmine hair pieces.
An elegant indoor setup for a small function. The decor features a vintage-style chair, hanging floral arrangements of tuberose and roses, and traditional brass lamps, creating a classic and graceful look.
About Pooja Rooms & Doorway Garlands
When I design floral garlands for main doors or pooja mantaps, I ensure the flowers are dense enough to frame the space clearly without obscuring the entrance. I use a mix of jasmine for scent and sturdier chrysanthemums or roses for the structure, so the garlands stay firm and fresh from the start of your ceremony until the guests leave.
My goal with pooja room and doorway decor is to bring a traditional, authentic feel to your home without overcomplicating the setup. I focus on using only fresh, local flowers—roses, orchids, marigolds, and jasmine—because artificial alternatives lack the fragrance and vibrancy that define a proper ceremony.
For main door entrances, especially during Gruhapravesam or housewarmings, I focus on the 'Toran'. I combine thick, hand-tied floral garlands with traditional coconut leaf accents (Mawina Toran). This creates a proper frame that signals the importance of the occasion from the moment guests arrive.
For pooja rooms, the approach changes based on the size of your space. If you have a dedicated room, I outline the door frame and the altar. If it is a smaller wooden mandir, I use banana leaves and floral strings to create a backdrop that highlights the deities rather than overwhelming them. I avoid cluttering the area with heavy props, as I believe the decor should complement the ritual, not distract from it.
Everything I design is custom-fit. I do not show up with templates because every home in Bengaluru has a different layout. I handle the entire process—from bringing the materials to the final cleanup—so you can focus on the pooja instead of worrying about wire fixings or dry petals later.
