About Behind the Scenes: My Art & Tutorials
When I teach, I always focus on cone control and consistent pressure before anything else. A common mistake beginners make is holding the cone too tightly or with too much pressure, which breaks the flow of the design. In my sessions, we practice on paper first to master straight lines, spirals, and humps—the building blocks of all patterns—before moving on to skin. It’s about building the muscle memory you need to draw confidently without needing a reference.
Building Your Mehndi Foundation
Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to refine your bridal art, understanding the anatomy of a design is essential. My approach to teaching is built on a 30-day structure where we move from basic elements to complex bridal full-hand covers. In Delhi NCR, many students come to me wanting to learn Arabic or Traditional Indian styles, but they often rush past the basics.
Why Practice Matters
Most of the images you see here are from my practice sessions and student tutorials. I believe in 'easy ways' to achieve complex results. For instance, we don't just jump into drawing a peacock; we start by mastering the curves, the teardrop shapes, and the scallop (or 'hump') borders. These elements define the clarity of your final stain.
My Teaching Method
- Step-by-Step Breakdown: I deconstruct intricate patterns like Mandalas or heavy bridal grids into small, manageable parts.
- Language: We learn in a comfortable mix of Hindi and English, making it easier to grasp instructions.
- Feedback: I provide constant correction on your practice sheets so you know exactly where to improve.
From learning to draw straight lines to mastering 'cut work' and heavy bridal borders, these tutorials are designed to take you from 'zero' to 'pro.' If you've ever looked at a complex design and wondered how to make it symmetric, you’re in the right place. We cover everything from the classic lotus motif to modern negative space techniques used in today’s trendy Arabic designs.
DS Mehndi Artist
Hi, I’m the face behind the cones. For me, mehndi isn't just about the final stain—it’s about the peace I find in the patterns and the joy it brings to others. I started these tutorials because I realized many people struggle with the basics, and I truly believe anyone can master this art with the right guidance.
