Zodiac Series: Celestial Character Art by Mallika
I’m obsessed with turning astrology into art. Every sign gets a unique look, blending celestial vibes with my signature Disney-inspired style. ✨
My illustration for Libra, the scales. Ruled by Venus, this character embodies balance, beauty, and artistry, surrounded by elegant floral line art and golden light.
A close-up of my Cancer zodiac illustration. The details show the crescent moon on her forehead and the crab constellation tattoo, key symbols for this water sign.
A detailed close-up of the Libra illustration. This view highlights the scale earrings and the glowing Libra constellation on her arm, integrating astrological symbols into the character design.
This is my take on the Cancer zodiac sign, blending celestial themes with my character art style. I love creating these custom zodiac illustrations, making them a unique and personal piece of art.
About The Zodiac Series
When I work on a zodiac piece, it is not just about the astrological sign; it is about the aesthetic. I spend time researching the ruling planets and symbols—like the crab for Cancer or the scales for Libra—and weaving them into the illustration using delicate line art and gold highlights on my iPad. Whether you want your own sun sign as a character or a custom concept, the process starts with a chat about what makes your specific vibe tick.
My zodiac work is essentially a long-term experiment in character design. I am a UX designer by day and an illustrator by night, and this series helps me bridge that gap. I love playing with the contrast between semi-realistic facial features and the whimsical, fairy-tale details that define my style.
How the process usually looks for a custom piece:
- The Idea: We start by talking about the mood. Are we going for a moody, celestial look, or something bright and floral?
- The Sketch: I draft the composition on my iPad. This is where we finalize the pose and the placement of symbols—like constellations or specific birth flowers.
- The Colors: I layer in warm lighting and details to give the piece that signature glow.
Because I create everything digitally at 300 DPI, my illustrations are perfect for more than just a social media post. Many clients use these for unique birthday prints, personalized stationery, or even lock screen wallpapers.
If you have been looking for a custom character illustration that actually feels like you, I am always game. I’ve worked with brands like Netflix and Red Bull, but honestly, I enjoy the personal, one-on-one projects just as much. Send me a message and let's figure out how to capture your vibe in an illustration.
