About Pastel & Pink Perfection
When choosing a pink or pastel palette, the biggest mistake is matching your makeup too closely to your lehenga. If your outfit is already pastel pink, using more pink on your eyes and lips can wash you out. I prefer to use soft champagne, bronze, or taupe undertones to anchor the look. This creates depth, ensures your features do not get lost in the color, and keeps the final result looking fresh rather than monochrome.
Balancing Color and Light
Pink is versatile, but the execution changes everything. A soft, blush-toned lehenga calls for a different approach than a vibrant Rani pink. For softer palettes, I focus on building a luminous base that catches the light, paired with cream-based blushers that melt into the skin for a natural, healthy glow. We avoid harsh powders that can make pastel looks appear chalky on camera.
The Eyes Have It
With pink outfits, the eyes are where we add the structure. I love using warm neutrals or soft metallic shimmers to define the crease. This provides the necessary contrast so that your face doesn't blend into your outfit. We then use fine, individual lashes to open up the eyes without that heavy, 'pasted-on' look that can distract from a delicate pastel ensemble. The final touch is usually a subtle kohl liner to add just enough definition to make the eyes pop in portraits.
Customizing the Pink
Every bride has a different comfort level. Some want a monochromatic, soft pink vibe from head to toe, while others prefer a modern twist with bold lips or deeper eye definition. During our consultation, we look at the specific undertones of your outfit. If it has cool, blue-based pinks, we adjust the skin prep and lip stains to complement that. If it is a warmer, peach-based pink, we lean into gold and honey tones. It is about harmony, not matching, ensuring you look like the best version of yourself, not a reflection of your dress.
Maitreyi Kotia
I’m Maitreyi. I love working with pinks and pastels because they feel inherently romantic, but I never treat them as just a 'theme'. My goal is to find the specific hue that lights up your complexion, whether it is a soft dusty rose or a bold Rani pink.
