Selected Works from Our Contemporary Collection

byMahua Art GalleryGallery at Sadashiva Nagar, BengaluruView full gallery

A selection representing the breadth of our gallery, spanning abstract canvases, traditional bronze sculptures, and evocative narrative paintings from contemporary Indian artists.

This serene lotus pond by Surekha Matt is a piece I often recommend for clients seeking tranquility and beauty in their space. The impressionistic style and layered colors create a sense of depth and calm that can transform a room.

I have a special interest in preserving traditional crafts, like this bronze Bhoota mask by Rajesh Acharya. These masks are used in rituals in South Karnataka and represent a powerful connection to our cultural and spiritual heritage.

This work by Swapan Kumar Palley is a wonderful example of contemporary art that draws from ancient history. You can see the clear influence of the Ajanta cave paintings in the figures and rich, earthy textures, creating a timeless dialogue.

Abstract art offers a pure, emotional experience, and Parbboni Bhowmik's work is a symphony of color. This acrylic on canvas is full of playful energy, perfect for a collector looking to add a dynamic and modern piece to their collection.

The 'Bull Series' is a recurring theme that many of my collectors follow. This particular piece by Sunil Sarkar captures the animal's raw power and grace with incredible economy of line, showcasing how a simple drawing can convey immense energy.

I find that art inspired by specific places carries a unique soul. Ranadip Mukherjee's 'Banaras Series' captures the mystical atmosphere of the ancient city, with its ghats and the river Ganga rendered in a vibrant, almost dreamlike palette.

I also champion artists working in other media, like these etchings by Sonal Varshneya. This series, titled "WHO AM I," explores feminine identity with a unique blend of intricate detail and bold, personal expression.

About this collection

Beyond the canvas, we focus on placement and provenance. Whether you are looking for a statement oil painting for a large wall or a subtle etching for a study, each piece comes with an authenticity certificate and advice on lighting to help integrate the work into your living space.

This collection captures the diverse voices we cultivate at Mahua, from the raw, kinetic energy in Sunil Sarkar’s 'Bull Series' to the meditative, impressionistic quality of Surekha Matt’s lotus ponds. We believe art is an ongoing dialogue. My role as a proprietor is to facilitate that conversation between the artist’s intent and your own environment.

When you select a piece, whether it is a small-format charcoal study or a large-scale oil painting, you are acquiring more than an object; you are gaining a documented piece of contemporary history. Every original artwork from our gallery includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity and a detailed provenance fact sheet.

We understand the challenges of integrating art into a home. That is why our service includes specific guidance on placement. This includes ensuring a bronze mask is lit to accentuate its patina, or selecting the correct archival frame for an etching to protect it from humidity. For statement pieces, we also offer professional on-site installation and digital visualization to ensure the scale aligns perfectly with your room dimensions. You are welcome to visit our space in Sadashiva Nagar to view these works in person, where we can discuss how these narratives might fit into your life.
