This video is about a "bridezilla" client and how I managed her expectations to deliver a look she loved. Handling difficult clients is a skill I teach to prepare you for the real world.
Here are the essential products to have in your kit to create sweat-proof makeup that lasts all summer. I recommend specific grip primers, foundations, and setting sprays that are tried and tested.
Building an affordable vanity for brides-to-be. I recommend budget-friendly products for every step, from skincare to a versatile lip palette, so you can create a full kit without breaking the bank.
A must-have product for your professional kit: a cream concealer palette. I recommend the Recode Ace of Base palette because it has all the shades you need for color correction, concealing, and contouring in one place.
For a high-end, sweat-proof foundation, I recommend Huda Beauty. I suggest buying just two shades, a light and a dark one, which you can mix to create a custom color for any client.
Tarte Shape Tape is one of the best concealers, but it's expensive. I recommend an affordable dupe, Character Cosmetics Block Out, which gives a similar high-coverage, long-lasting finish.
A lipstick guide for brides. I show which lipstick shades go with different outfit colors and recommend the Recode Clay Matte lipstick set, which has 10 shades to cover all your needs.
About Building Your Makeup Business
When you are just starting, you do not need a huge budget to get clients. You need a strategy to show your work effectively. If you are hiring a model for a shoot, stop taking just one final photo. I teach my students to extract at least seven pieces of content from that one session, from behind-the-scenes process clips to trending reels. If you are not doing this, you are wasting your money and missing out on the easiest way to prove your skills to future brides.
The biggest misconception in this industry is that if you are a good artist, the clients will naturally line up. They will not. I spent eight years figuring out the business side of makeup, and I teach exactly what works on the ground today.
The Content Trap
Stop posting random photos and hoping for the best. I teach my students to build a content bank from every single makeup application. You need a process shot, a final look, a hair styling clip, and at least one reel on trending audio. That is how you turn one model shoot into a week of engagement. If you are not documenting the work, you are effectively invisible to potential clients.
Handling Client Expectations
Every makeup artist fears the difficult client, but I show you how to manage expectations early. It is not about saying yes to every impossible demand. It is about communicating boundaries clearly while keeping the client happy. Whether it is a bride who wants a glass finish on dry skin or someone with specific concerns, the skill lies in the consultation before you even pick up a brush.
Pricing and Products
You do not need to buy every high-end product on the market to be a professional. I teach my students how to build an affordable vanity using the right mix of drugstore and professional products. More importantly, I show you how to price your services so you actually make a profit after your expenses, rather than just breaking even.
Getting Real Bookings
Stop waiting for DMs. I guide you through active strategies: setting up local collaborations with boutiques and photographers, using your own social circle to build a portfolio, and how to use WhatsApp status as a powerful tool to convert people in your contact list. Your next client is often closer than you think.
