i'm not a diver with a camera. i'm a cinematographer who happens to be a freediver. it changes the way i capture movement, light, and depth in water.

I am a freediver, which allows me to create visuals that most can't. This was captured in a cenote in Mexico, playing with the natural light beams that cut through the darkness. It’s about finding art in the elements.

An underwater commercial shoot for the LABFRESH SS22 collection in Curacao. This is an example of how I take a unique skill like freediving and apply it to a brand campaign to create something unexpected.

Swimming with a sea turtle in Aruba. This shot combines my passion for travel, nature, and underwater photography. It was taken using the Sony a1 in an underwater housing.

About Underwater Worlds

my process relies on salty surf housings and a freediver's mobility. while most commercial shoots require heavy tanks and massive support teams, i move independently with the subject. this keeps the framing tight, the interaction natural, and the look cinematic rather than clinical.

underwater commercial work is rarely about just the water. it is about bringing the same mood, lighting, and narrative tension from the streets of nyc or a studio into an aquatic environment. because i shoot with a sony a1 and leica glass, the technical fidelity stays consistent with my land-based campaign work.

when i am shooting a fashion collection or a brand piece, i focus on natural light. water acts as a massive softbox, but it also strips away contrast if you do not know how to work the angles. my background as a freediver means i do not need to hover in one spot with air tanks, which would distract the subject and create unnecessary bubbles in the frame. i can dive, line up the shot, and move with the model or product.

for clients, this means a faster workflow. we do not spend hours rigging up underwater lighting arrays unless the concept demands it. we prioritize the movement, the refraction of light, and the texture of the surface. from the cenotes in mexico to the clear water in curacao, the goal is always to create imagery that feels like it belongs in a high-end editorial spread, not a travel brochure. all files are color-graded in my signature style, ensuring that the underwater assets align perfectly with your existing campaign lookbook.
