DJ Ishani's Style, Gear, and Stage Presence
It is about more than just the music. Whether I am behind the decks at a club or styling for a gig, my look and my gear are part of the energy I bring to every set.
Posing against a wall of classic rock and hip-hop posters. My style is influenced by all kinds of music legends.
So happy with my brand new Technics headphones. These are the only ones I've used throughout my career, and they are essential to my craft.
A full-length shot showing off my style. The look is just as important as the sound.
A close-up shot that captures my "Superthug or a Super ⭐️" persona. It's all about confidence.

About Style & Persona
A DJ setup is personal. Those Technics headphones I use are not just for show. They have been through years of wear and tear, and keeping my gear consistent is how I make sure the sound hits exactly the way I intend. When you book me, you get the same professional Pioneer console I use at my residencies, because I do not compromise on the tools of the trade.
My gear is an extension of my performance. When you see me playing at 'The Grind' or a private event, I am usually relying on my Pioneer CDJ 2000 NXS2 setup. It is the industry standard for a reason. It handles the bass-heavy trap, old-school hip-hop, and dancehall tracks I spin without skipping a beat.
Why the Gear Matters
Consistency is everything. I bring my own Technics headphones because I know how they respond. If you know what you are doing, you know that sound quality dictates the energy of the room. I don't rely on house equipment that might be faulty or improperly calibrated. I arrive 60 minutes early to every gig to do my own sound check and ensure that when I drop the first track, the system is tuned for maximum impact.
Style and Presence
People often ask about the 'Superthug' versus 'Superstar' label. It is just the duality of the job. For club nights in Bandra or Khar, my style is streetwear chic. It is about comfort and attitude. For corporate gigs or high-fashion events, I pivot to something more polished while still keeping that hip-hop edge. Whether I am wearing sequins or my favorite vintage tee, the look is meant to match the vibe of the music. It is about bringing the culture to the stage, regardless of the venue type. I treat every party like a family affair, and my look is just one way I connect with the crowd.
