Celebrating the elegance of tradition. Whether it is the rich weave of a Paithani or the grace of a festive drape, I capture your cultural roots in portraits that feel like home.

We began the Navdurga series with Maa Shailputri, representing purity and innocence in this beautiful white Paithani saree. This studio portrait uses a simple dark background to let the intricate details of the saree and the subject's graceful pose shine.

For Day 2 of the Navdurga series, this radiant red Banarasi saree symbolizes Devi Brahmacharini's devotion and strength. The soft lighting and seated pose create a feeling of serene contemplation, highlighting the rich texture of the silk.

A stunning royal blue saree for Maa Chandraghanta on Day 3 of our Navratri series. This full-length portrait showcases the saree's drape and the traditional accessories, set against a decorated wall to add a touch of home and context.

A candid moment from the Maa Chandraghanta shoot. The subject adjusts her hair, adorned with fresh flowers, offering a softer, more personal perspective of this traditional Maharashtrian look.

Representing Maa Kushmanda, this portrait uses natural window light to create a soft, ethereal glow. The vibrant orange and yellow saree, paired with a green blouse, brings warmth and energy to the image, reflecting the goddess's creative force.

A close-up portrait from the Maa Kushmanda shoot, focusing on the subject's serene expression and the traditional eye makeup. This shot emphasizes the personal and devotional aspect of our Navdurga series.

The sheer beauty of a handwoven red Paithani saree. In this studio shot, I focused on capturing the rich color and intricate gold work, with the model seated to let the fabric drape beautifully, showing its luxurious feel.

Taking the saree outdoors changes everything. This bright turquoise Paithani looks so fresh and modern against the urban backdrop. It shows how versatile a traditional saree can be for lifestyle and brand photography.

A close-up portrait celebrating Akshaya Tritiya. The focus here is on the rich purple Paithani saree and traditional gold jewelry, capturing a moment of quiet reflection and cultural significance.

This collage demonstrates a full range of possibilities for a single handloom saree. We captured indoor portraits, outdoor lifestyle shots, and close-ups to provide a complete visual story for the brand.

About Maharashtrian & Paithani Saree Portraits

Beyond just clicking photos, I spend real time getting the drape right. In my Chembur studio, I keep brass lamps, flower plates, and vintage props ready to bring that authentic, traditional vibe to your shoot. I’m right there with you to help adjust your pallu, naths, or jewelry so every shot captures both your personality and the legacy of the saree.

There is something timeless about a saree. It is not just clothing, it is a piece of family history. My goal with these portraits is to move beyond standard posing and capture the emotion of wearing these heirlooms.

The Cultural Experience

Whether you are documenting a special Akshaya Tritiya, celebrating Navratri, or simply want to create a legacy portrait for your family, I focus on the details that matter. We play with light to highlight the specific texture of your silk—the zari work of a Paithani or the heavy borders of a Banarasi—ensuring the fabric looks as rich on camera as it does in person.

Why a Studio Portrait?

My Chembur studio offers a quiet space to slow down. Unlike event photography, where things move at lightning speed, here we have the breathing room to get the expressions perfect. We can experiment with traditional looks or mix in modern styling. I love incorporating props like traditional samai, brass plates, and seasonal flowers, which add layers of meaning to the frames.

How We Work

  • Pre-Shoot Planning: We discuss your outfit and jewelry beforehand. If you have a specific style in mind—be it classic Maharashtrian or something more contemporary—we plan the lighting to match that mood.
  • Assistance on Set: Draping a saree perfectly for photos is a skill. I am there to assist with adjustments, ensuring the pleats, pallu, and jewelry placement look elegant from every angle.
  • Authentic Portraits: I avoid stiff, artificial poses. We aim for natural, graceful movements that make you feel comfortable and confident.

If you have a special saree you’ve been waiting to photograph, let’s plan a session that does justice to its beauty.

I’m Indira. While my roots are in the mountains, I’ve grown a deep, personal love for the richness of Maharashtrian culture. I don't just photograph a saree; I capture the legacy woven into the silk and the stories you want to pass down to the next generation.
