About Sacred Vows & Ceremonies
I never ask you to pause or re-enact a ritual for a better angle. During these sacred moments, I use silent-shutter cameras and stay on the periphery. The gravity of your ceremony comes from it being entirely yours, not a staged production for the camera.
The ceremony is the heartbeat of the wedding day. It is the transition from the chaos of preparation and celebration to the quiet, intentional act of committing to another person. Because I have photographed everything from intimate Catholic church weddings in Goa to grand Hindu pheras in Mumbai, I understand that every ritual has a different rhythm.
My approach is designed to be invisible. You will not find me shouting directions or moving your family members out of the way. Instead, I observe. I watch for the way the groom grips the bride's hand during a tense moment in the Anand Karaj, or the subtle relief on a bride's face as the Nikaah contract is signed.
These ceremonies often happen in challenging light or crowded mandaps. My goal is to navigate these spaces without disturbing the energy. I use prime lenses to get close without being physically intrusive, allowing me to capture the tears, the focused prayers, and the exchange of vows as they happen, not as I want them to look. Whether it is a small, quiet affair or a traditional ceremony with hundreds of guests, I am there to document the raw, unfiltered truth of the commitment you are making.
