Modern Mandir Designs for Serene Home Sanctuaries
We believe a mandir should be a quiet sanctuary, even in a busy city home. We blend traditional devotion with modern aesthetics using marble, onyx, and light to create your personal prayer space.
More than a mandir, it’s a feeling. This design concept features a serene space with an intricately detailed arch, a custom floor inlay, and soft, ambient lighting to create a quiet pulse of devotion within the home.
A beautiful blend of tradition and craftsmanship. This mandir design features a marble altar set against a window with a floral patterned backdrop, flanked by elegant metal screens. The space is completed with a stunning floral chandelier and deep teal poufs.
This mandir design uses intricately carved 'jaali' panels as a backdrop, which are backlit to create a divine glow. The wooden base provides storage, while the overall space is kept open and connected to the main living area through a decorative screen.
Welcome to the calmest corner of the home. In this walkthrough, I'll show you how this mandir, mostly designed by the client herself, came together. It features handcrafted marble, mother-of-pearl inlay, and a beautiful Nandi painting that makes the space feel open and deeply personal.
I'll now take you to the holy space of this Japandi-style home. Since I'm usually a maximalist, creating a minimal mandir was a challenge. We used an all-white palette, a beautiful onyx stone backdrop, and a custom-cut Gayatri Mantra to create a surreal and peaceful sanctuary.

About this collection
Most of our mandir projects start with a simple question: how do we keep it serene without losing the traditional vibe? We often use backlit jaali screens or onyx stone backgrounds to create a soft, divine glow. This keeps the space visually clean and minimal—letting your deities and rituals take center stage—without needing heavy, elaborate structures that crowd an apartment layout.
Designing a pooja room in a modern home is all about balance. Our approach moves away from the idea that a mandir must be a heavy, dark cabinet tucked in a corner. Instead, we design these as extensions of your living space.
Material Magic
We focus on textures that reflect peace. Think hand-carved marble for durability and a classic look, or mother-of-pearl inlay for a subtle, shimmering detail. For those who prefer a Japandi or minimal style, we use white palettes and onyx stone to create a surreal, quiet environment. Using stainless steel with CNC cutting allows us to incorporate traditional motifs like the Gayatri Mantra in a way that feels contemporary rather than dated.
Lighting for Atmosphere
Lighting changes the entire mood of a prayer room. We avoid harsh, direct lighting. Instead, we use cove lighting, magnetic tracks, or statement chandeliers to set a soft, ambient glow. Backlighting your backdrop—whether it is a jaali panel or a stone slab—adds depth and makes the space feel like a sanctuary, not just a storage unit.
Vastu and Functionality
We know that Vastu compliance matters. We integrate this into the layout from the start, ensuring the space is flow-friendly. We also prioritize practical storage—hiding away your silverwares and pooja supplies in clean, handle-less cabinets so the room remains clutter-free. Whether you are renovating an old home or planning a new villa, we treat your mandir as the soul of the house, not just an afterthought.
