The first few months of a puppy's life are critical for their development. My approach focuses on building confidence through positive, safe exploration.

Three years ago, this litter of puppies was born and they inspired me to create my enrichment center. Watching them grow taught me so much about the importance of early enrichment and patience in raising confident dogs.

A puppy experiencing rain for the first time. Every new sight, sound, and sensation is a learning opportunity. My goal is to make these first experiences positive and safe to build a resilient and curious dog.

We gently guided this puppy as she climbed stairs for the first time. Exposing puppies to new physical challenges in a safe way is crucial for their development and helps prevent fears from forming later in life.

Part of my board-and-train program is introducing puppies to a variety of safe foods. Pepper the puppy tasting watermelon for the first time is not just cute, it's a valuable sensory experience.

Puppies explore the world with their mouths. Providing safe and edible things to chew on, like this turnip, satisfies their natural instincts and teaches them what is appropriate to chew on.

This puppy is learning to work for her food using a Kong Wobbler. Starting food puzzles early teaches problem solving skills and makes mealtime a fun, engaging activity from a young age.

A sniffer ball is a perfect first puzzle for a puppy. It's intuitive and encourages them to use their nose, which is a calming and rewarding activity. It's never too early to introduce enrichment.

This puppy is learning to use a slow feeder. This not only prevents digestive issues from eating too fast but also provides crucial mental stimulation during mealtime.

About Puppy's First Steps: Early Enrichment

You do not need a house full of expensive toys to start building your puppy's confidence. I often see owners rush to buy everything, but a simple cardboard box or a knotted towel can be the best learning tool. During our sessions, we start with the basics of environmental exposure, from texture walks on different surfaces to controlled socialization, ensuring your puppy learns that the world is a fun, not scary, place.
