Physical exercise isn't the only way to tire out your dog. Unlock the power of mental stimulation with structured puzzle games that calm, focus, and challenge them.

The Dog Sudoku is a level three puzzle that requires dogs to slide tiles to find treats. I work with dogs to build up to this level, starting with simpler puzzles to ensure they don't get frustrated and learn to enjoy the challenge.

This is Simba's first ever puzzle session. He was a bit nervous and had trouble focusing, so we started with a Nina Ottosson Dog Worker puzzle. Introducing puzzles slowly and setting the dog up for success is key to building their confidence.

Meet Cheeku, a smart community dog who loves to learn. We started introducing puzzles to him, and he is a natural problem solver. This shows that any dog, regardless of their background, can benefit from and enjoy mental enrichment.

This is Rocky, an indie who is reactive towards other dogs. While we work on his reactivity, puzzles provide essential mental stimulation to keep his smart brain occupied. He took to this puzzle immediately, showing his natural problem solving abilities.

It's never too early to start with enrichment. This puppy is meeting a sniffer ball for the first time, an intuitive toy that encourages them to use their nose to find food. This is a great beginner-friendly puzzle for young dogs.

Puzzles are a cornerstone of my enrichment services because they offer so many benefits. This graphic highlights eight key ways that puzzles can help your dog, from mental stimulation to building confidence.

The primary benefit of any puzzle is mental stimulation. Just like physical exercise tires out their bodies, working on a puzzle tires out their brain, leading to a calmer, more relaxed dog.

A bored dog is often a destructive dog. Puzzles are an excellent way to reduce boredom by redirecting their attention to a positive and engaging activity.

The act of concentrating on a task helps dogs calm down. I often use puzzles with anxious or hyperactive dogs to help them focus their energy in a productive way.

If you have a dog that gulps down their food in seconds, puzzles can be a great solution. Having to think and work to get the food naturally slows down their eating.

About Brain Games & Puzzle Sessions

When a dog acts out, we often assume they need more running. Often, they just need to think. My puzzle sessions don't just keep them busy; they teach dogs how to focus, calm down, and solve problems—transforming frustration into a quiet, rewarding win for them.
