Cinematic FPV Drone Videography for Music Videos
Ditch the steadycam. I use custom FPV drones to capture the kind of high-energy, flowing shots that traditional cameras just can't reach.
On set for Guru Randhawa's 'MoonRise' music video. We were out in the deep snow to get these epic shots. It's always a great experience collaborating with artists to bring their creative vision to life with FPV.
A little behind the scenes action from the music video shoot for Jordan Sandhu's 'Freeflow'. The team wanted some cool indoor shots, so I flew my FPV drone right through the living room to get those dynamic angles.
Here's another look from the set with Jordan Sandhu. The whole crew is checking the FPV feed on my goggles to see the shot. It’s a team effort to nail these complex indoor drone flights for music videos.
About Music Videos & Special Projects
Traditional cameras are limited by gimbals and steadycams, but my custom Cinewhoop drones fly through windows, narrow corridors, and right past the artist for that raw, immersive flow. Whether we are tracking a performance inside a villa or buzzing through a complex set, I bring the lens closer to the action than anyone else.
Beyond the Steadycam
When a music video calls for energy, you can't rely on slow pans or rigid camera setups. I built my career on 'chasing' shots—literally. By using small-footprint Cinewhoop drones with ducted propellers, I can fly safely indoors, weaving between crew members, set pieces, and artists without the risk of damage. This allows us to achieve those iconic, fluid, single-take transitions from outside the venue right into the heart of the performance.
The Collaborative Process
I don't just show up and fly. I work closely with your Director of Photography (DP) to understand the movement. If the creative vision requires a dive from the ceiling or a rapid push-in during a chorus, we rehearse the route to make sure the drone's flight path matches the song's energy. I’ve collaborated with artists like Guru Randhawa and Jordan Sandhu to bring this specific style to their music videos, providing a visual rhythm that syncs with the track.
Technical Specs for Production
- Safe Indoor Flight: Sub-250g drones mean we can fly in confined spaces (hotels, studios, clubs) without safety concerns.
- High-Res Output: I record in 4K at 60fps, giving editors the freedom to slow down footage for dramatic, high-impact moments.
- Professional Workflow: I provide stabilized footage using ReelSteady GO or Gyroflow, so the raw clips you get are buttery smooth, regardless of how chaotic the flight was.
If you want a video that feels alive rather than just 'filmed,' let's talk about the flight path.
