It has been almost 4 months, and Bengaluru has not witnessed a single drop of rain. The city is missing its unique charm and beauty, and the garden is feeling it too.

Inhale peace, exhale stress. This is what gardening means to me. A few moments in my garden can change my whole day.
Just feel it. The rain on the terrace, the happy plants, the cool breeze. These are the moments I live for.
About this collection
Gardening isn't just about the bountiful harvests you see in these photos; it is about the daily rhythm of checking moisture levels and balancing nutrients. Whether it is a dry Bengaluru spell or a heavy monsoon, I have learned how to adapt my 70+ fruit trees to survive and thrive in containers. You do not need a massive backyard to replicate this cycle—you just need the right strategy for your specific sunlight and space.
My garden has become a living record of trial and error. Looking back at 2022, 2023, and 2024, the one thing that remains constant is the surprise of nature. From a squirrel planting guava seeds to the quiet joy of a first-time mango harvest in a grow bag, every year brings new lessons.
The Reality of Urban Gardening
Many people think they need a large farm to grow fruit. My garden proves otherwise. By understanding micro-climates—where the sun hits, where the wind is strong—you can grow everything from Star Gooseberry to Chikoo on a standard Bengaluru balcony or terrace.
My Approach to Year-Round Care
- Seasonality: I adjust my watering schedules and fertilizer application based on the weather, not a fixed calendar. Monsoon care, for example, is entirely different from the summer heat management required for delicate roots.
- Organic Practices: I avoid chemical pesticides entirely. Instead, I use homemade neem oil emulsions and organic fertilizers made from kitchen waste. It keeps the produce safe enough to eat directly from the branch.
- Container Health: Growing fruit trees in pots requires specific soil mixes—Red Soil, Cocopeat, and Neem Cake are staples I use to ensure proper drainage and root health.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, remember that I started exactly where you are. We can work together to analyze your space, map out your sunlight, and choose the right starter plants to build your own mini-jungle.
