Whether it’s an Afro-Desi edit at a wedding after-party or a Tech House Bollywood flip at a festival, my sets are designed to shift from nostalgic singalongs to peak-hour bangers. To get this sound right, I do require a standard Pioneer CDJ-3000 setup, as these transitions rely on precise digital mixing that standard controllers just can't handle.
Building the Vibe
My sound is built on the ‘Flip’—taking a classic Bollywood vocal or a Sufi melody and dropping it over a fresh Afro-House or Tech-House beat. It is about bridging the gap between what you grew up listening to and the global sounds hitting the charts today.
How I Structure a Set
Every gig is a journey.
- The Warm-Up: I start with those nostalgic vocals everyone knows by heart—the songs that make the crowd sing along instantly.
- The Transition: I slowly weave in Afro-Desi grooves and global dance anthems, keeping the energy rising without breaking the flow.
- The Peak: This is where the Bolly-Tech edits hit. I focus on high-octane rhythms that turn a regular party into a rave, whether we are at a warehouse in Hyderabad or a festival in Goa.
Working Together
I pride myself on being open-format, which means I can read the room in real-time. If the vibe calls for more Punjabi anthems, I go there. If the dancefloor wants underground techno, I switch it up.
Technical Note: To keep the quality consistent across all venues, I provide my own USBs and headphones, but I do need the host to arrange a pro-grade Pioneer CDJ-3000 or NXS2 setup. It ensures that the sound is crisp, the transitions are seamless, and the ‘flip’ hits exactly when it needs to.
