Honour The Dog: My Philosophy on Training
Stop treating your dog like a baby. Start treating them like the intelligent, apex predator they actually are.
Your dog is not a baby. Treating an apex predator like a child is ruining dogs and creating preventable behavioral problems. They deserve to be treated like the magnificent animals they are.
Our culture is getting it wrong. We think giving a dog a job is cruel, but letting a dog become obese and diabetic is fine. You cannot take a pristine animal and pretend it's a human baby. Respect the dog.
Let's start honouring our dogs for the absolutely amazing creatures they are. They are magnificent, majestic, and intelligent. Let's stop killing them with kindness and treat them for exactly what they are. Honour your dog.
Dog training isn't about proving to the world how good you are. It's about proving to your dog how good you are with him. The connection and trust between you and your dog is the only thing that matters.
People assume that as a trainer, I am always strict with my dogs. That's not true. Because our communication is clear and boundaries are set, we can enjoy our dogs, have fun, and do goofy things together. It's about balance.
A dog in motion is a beautiful thing. We should honour them by allowing them to be the robust, majestic animals they were born to be, not by confining them to a life that doesn't meet their needs.
The warped mindset that a fit dog is "too skinny" or that a working dog is "abused" is literally killing dogs. We have to push back on this snowflake mentality and respect the animal for what it is.
I will say it again: Your dog is not a baby. It is an animal with forty-two teeth and a bite that can break bones. They deserve the respect of being treated like a dog.
About My Philosophy: Honour The Dog
You think your dog is acting out to spite you. They aren't. They are acting out because they lack a clear leader. When you treat a canine like a human child, you create an unstable animal that is anxious, unpredictable, and frustrated. True respect does not come from pampering. It comes from giving your dog a role, clear boundaries, and the structure that lets them finally relax.
Why Your Dog Isn't A Human
We live in a culture that is failing our animals. We humanize them, project our emotions onto them, and then act surprised when they develop behavioral issues. A dog is an apex predator with forty-two teeth and the ability to break bones. When you refuse to acknowledge their biology, you set them up for failure.
The 'Honour The DOG' Approach
My philosophy is simple: Stop the blame, start to train. Every dog, whether a rescue with a bite history or a puppy learning the ropes, craves structure. They don't need to be babied. They need a 'Kahu'—a leader who provides direction and purpose. When I work with a dog, I am not just teaching them commands. I am showing them how to navigate a world that isn't built for them.
Building A Real Partnership
In my Bangalore facility, we don't use magic fixes. We use consistency. Whether it's intensive canine rehabilitation for aggression or building drive in working breeds, the focus is always on the partnership. If you are willing to step up, commit, and learn, I will teach you how to communicate with your dog. We build obedience, impulse control, and social neutrality, not through soft-handling, but through honest, clear, and fair leadership. If you are ready to stop making excuses and start building a relationship based on mutual respect, let's get to work.
