Decorative Garden Pebbles for Indoor Plants

While we are known for our rare philodendrons and exotic trees at our Mysore nursery, we understand that presentation matters. Often, the top layer of soil can look messy or dry after a few waterings. Adding a decorative top dressing is a practical solution we recommend.

Why use top dressing?

• Moisture retention: A layer of pebbles acts as a mulch, slowing down evaporation. This is helpful for indoor plants placed in air-conditioned rooms or near windows with harsh sunlight.
• Soil stability: When you water your plants, the force can sometimes displace soil and create a mess. Pebbles hold the potting mix in place.
• Clean aesthetics: For plants in simple nursery grow pots or standard planters, pebbles provide an instant upgrade. It turns a functional plant into a decor piece.

How we use them

At our garden center, we prefer polished white stones because they provide a neutral contrast against deep green foliage. When you receive these from us, rinse them lightly before application to remove any dust from shipping. Apply a layer about half an inch thick over your soil. Ensure you leave a small gap around the main stem to allow the plant to breathe.
