I’m not here to sugarcoat things. Acne is a medical problem, not something you fix with random hacks from Instagram or beauty bloggers. If you’ve tried dabbing baking soda, lemon juice, coconut oil or vitamin E on your face, I’ll be honest - it’s usually a bad idea. These don’t help and can actually make things worse, leading to deeper, permanent scars.
What Actually Causes Acne
Forget the myths about chocolate, tea, or non-veg causing pimples. The main reason is excess sebum (oil) production. If you’re popping your pimples, thinking "Jab mujhe pimple hota hai naa, main phod deta hun" (Whenever I get a pimple, I squeeze it), just stop. It’s the easiest way to end up with scars that stick around for years.
How I Treat Acne
- First step: Control inflammation. This means prescribed oral and topical antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, or retinoids.
- If required, I might check if oral retinoids are right for you. It’s a journey, not a quick fix - expect about 4-6 months for real results.
Scar Treatment That Works
No cream or lotion can erase deep scars. The only way to see a real difference is through professional procedures:
- Fractional CO2 laser for acne scars: Best for tough scars, but you’ll need some downtime.
- Microneedling radiofrequency treatment: Good results, less downtime.
- Platelet-rich plasma for skin healing: Often combined with other treatments.
