Being named the 'Retro DJ of the Decade' is not just a shiny trophy on my shelf. It represents thousands of hours spent digging for original tracks, mastering the art of Video DJing, and ensuring that whether it is a sangeet or a packed club night, the energy never drops. I treat every gig like it is my first, making sure the vibe stays authentic to the golden era of Bollywood.
Why I do what I do
I treat RD Burman as my musical god, and that deep respect shows in every set I play. When you book me for a retro night, you are not getting a generic playlist. You are getting a curated 'Chitrahaar' experience. I sync original music videos and movie clips to the audio, creating a visual nostalgia trip that gets everyone from the kids to the grandparents on the dance floor.
More than just a DJ set
Music connects people. That is why I love collaborating with fellow musicians like percussionists for that live 'Jugalbandi' interaction. We take high-tempo remixes and live beats to create a fusion experience that is completely different from a standard laptop-and-speaker setup. Whether it is a wedding in Mumbai or a festival in Goa, I bring my own professional console and video equipment to ensure the sound and visuals are crisp.
Getting the balance right
I am serious about my craft, but I am also a family man who knows that balance is the key. When I am off the console, I am usually with my son or jamming with my musician friends.
