This mashup of Diljit Dosanjh's "Magic" is a prime example of my experimental work. By fusing a popular Punjabi song with an energetic Afro-beat, I created a genre-bending track that offers a completely fresh sound.

When I build these fusion tracks, I start by isolating the vocals to ensure they sit clearly above the new instrumentation. I then match the BPM of the original song to the fresh beat, whether it is an Afro-fusion rhythm or a heavy hip-hop kick, to keep the energy consistent from the intro through every drop.

My Process
I don't just mash tracks together. I analyze the key, the mood, and the frequency range of every song before I even touch the console. For an Afro-Punjabi mix, for instance, I work to preserve the raw emotion of the Punjabi vocals while re-layering the drum programming to match the syncopated groove of the Afro-beat.
