My Personal Sketchbook & Urban Art Journal
Art isn't just for the studio. It is in the metro, on a train, and high up in the Himalayas. This is my visual diary, where I capture life as it happens, one sketch at a time.
Art can happen anywhere, even on the serene banks of Pangong Lake in Leh. This is me, lost in the moment, capturing the incredible landscape with my watercolors. Plein air painting in the mountains is a truly meditative experience.
Another beautiful moment from Leh, sketching the reflection of the mountains in the still water. These trips are a huge source of inspiration for my landscape paintings.
I find inspiration everywhere, including during my daily commute on the Delhi metro. A quick pen sketch in my journal is a great way to practice observation and capture the life around me.
More sketches from the Delhi metro. I use a simple fine line pen to quickly capture details like the pattern on a dress or the way someone is sitting.
A digital sketch I created on my tablet during a train journey to Dehradun. It's a fun way to capture fellow travelers and practice portraiture on the go.
A time-lapse of a pen sketch showing a valley landscape with little huts. This piece, created with a Unipin fine line pen, was a reflection on the year gone by.
Sometimes I just love to doodle and let my pen wander. This is an abstract pen and marker sketch, a simple and relaxing way to be creative.
About this collection
I rarely leave home without a sketchbook and a fine line pen. Whether I am catching a quick portrait of a fellow passenger on the Delhi metro or painting the still waters of Pangong Lake, these sketches are not about perfection. They are about observation, training my eyes to see the beauty in an ordinary commute or a fleeting train ride.
People often ask me if I feel awkward sketching in public. My answer is always no. When you are focused on the lines, the shadows, and the composition, the crowd fades away. My sketchbook is my sidekick. I use standard fine line pens for my metro doodles and travel-friendly watercolor sets for my outdoor work in places like Leh or the Red Fort.
You do not need expensive gear to start your own visual diary. You just need to commit to the habit. These sketches form the foundation of my art—they keep me creative when I am traveling or just sitting in a cafe.
If you want to learn how to capture scenes on the go or understand the basics of perspective, join my urban sketching sessions. We head to parks and monuments across Delhi NCR, turning the chaos of the city into a calm, creative practice. It is perfect for anyone, even if you have never held a brush before. Let's find the artist hidden inside you.
