The foundation of a great kitchen is high-quality material. This post introduces 5 simple tests you can do to check for poor quality plywood, ensuring your interiors are built to last.

Plywood Quality Test 1: The Water Soak Test. High-quality waterproof or marine-grade plywood will retain its shape and integrity after being soaked in water, without swelling or delaminating.

Plywood Quality Test 5: The Flexibility Test. Good plywood should flex minimally under pressure and return to its original shape without cracking, indicating a strong and well-bonded core.

Plywood Quality Test 3: The Tap Test. Tapping the surface of plywood should produce a firm, solid sound. A hollow sound suggests gaps or voids in the core, which is a sign of poor quality.

Plywood Quality Test 2: The Screwing Test. When you drive a screw into good quality plywood, it should hold firmly without the wood cracking or splintering. This shows the core density and strength.

Plywood Quality Test 4: The Boiling Test. For the highest grade of durability, premium BWP or marine plywood should be able to pass a boiling water test without any signs of delamination or damage.

About The Decorpot Difference: From Factory to Finish

When you walk into a finished home, you see the beautiful laminates and the seamless handles, but the longevity of your interior—the part that prevents warping or sagging over time—happens long before installation. We manufacture everything in our own factory because it gives us total control over the raw materials. Before a single sheet of plywood enters your home, it undergoes the same rigorous stress tests we’ve shared here, ensuring it is true BWP (Boiling Water Proof) grade and built to withstand the realities of Indian kitchen usage.
