Manav specializes in sensitive, field-level documentary photography for NGOs and CSR initiatives. His approach captures the dignity and human reality behind every story.

A key visual from a documentary shoot for Sirona Hygiene, focusing on the issue of period poverty in India. This work is about capturing sensitive stories with dignity.

A collage from the Sirona documentary project, showing our team on the ground, interacting with the community, and capturing the reality of their lives.

From working on-site in the community to seeing the final photographs printed and displayed on office walls. This reel shows the full, emotional journey of a CSR project.

About this collection

In sensitive field projects, the camera is secondary to the human connection. I often spend time just observing or chatting with the community before taking a single shot. This is how we move past the surface and capture genuine, dignified emotions rather than staged poses that feel empty.

Documentary work requires a different mindset than standard event coverage. When I am on-site—whether at a rural NGO camp or a community workshop—the goal is to document reality without disrupting it. You can see this in my work with Sirona Hygiene, where we had to navigate sensitive topics like period poverty with extreme care.

My Approach to Field Documentation

  • Building Rapport: I don't just show up and start shooting. I take time to understand the local context and make people comfortable, which is essential for raw, honest imagery.
  • Unobtrusive Gear: I use minimal, low-profile equipment to ensure I am not the center of attention. This allows the subjects to act naturally.
  • Handling Sensitivity: I understand the nuance required when a male photographer documents women-centric issues, ensuring the environment remains respectful and professional at all times.

From Capture to Print

I don't believe the process ends when the SD card is full. My services include managing the final output, ensuring the color grading respects the environment's mood. I have handled end-to-end documentation where the final output is printed for corporate office walls, so I focus on high-resolution capture that looks sharp even when blown up for large displays. If your CSR project needs a visual storyteller who can handle both the raw field work and the professional delivery, let's talk.
