My Crochet Process: Handmade with Love
Ever wonder what goes into your custom crochet piece? Here is a peek behind the scenes at how I turn yarn into wearable art, from the first stitch to the final wash.
This is me, Harshita, the engineer turned crochet artist behind Creative Chaossss. I started this small business in 2020 and taught myself everything from YouTube. It’s been an amazing journey of completing over 100 orders and growing my passion.
Ever wonder how crochet pieces look so neat and polished? It's a process called blocking. I wet the piece, pin it into the perfect shape, and let it dry. This video shows how I blocked a red scarf to even out the stitches and give it a professional finish.
I believe in delivering a perfect product, and that includes a final wash. Here you can see me carefully hand-washing a custom scarf to make sure it's clean, soft, and ready for my client. It’s one of the final steps in my process.
Here’s a little trade secret for working with acrylic yarn. I carefully use an incense stick to burn off any extra fuzz. This gives the final product a super clean and polished look, which is an important finishing touch for all my creations.
This is a little look into my life. The first clip is me speed-crocheting to finish an urgent order, and the second is me working calmly on pre-orders. Either way, I'm always busy with my hooks and yarn.
This is how my soul feels when I'm working on new orders every day. Just pure peace and focus. Here I am starting a new project for a wonderful client, surrounded by all my colorful yarn.
The life of a crocheter includes playing "yarn chicken" and hoping you don't run out before the end of a row. And when you do, it's the best excuse to get a new ball of yarn. This is the real behind the scenes.
This is your sign. You should get crochet items. They are handmade, unique, and made with so much love. Let me make something special for you.
About My Process: Handmade with Love
I don't just finish a piece and pack it up. For every acrylic item, I carefully use an incense stick to burn off that extra fuzz that machines just cannot touch. It is a tiny, delicate detail, but it makes sure your 'cuties' look crisp, clean, and totally polished before they reach your doorstep.
People often ask me why handmade takes a few days. The truth is, it is not just about the crocheting. It is about the love and labor that goes into every single loop. When you order from Creative Chaos, you are getting a piece that has been through a real journey.
First, I choose the yarn. For Mumbai weather, I often suggest cotton blends because they are breathable. If you want something cozy for travel or winter, I switch to high-density acrylics. Once the pattern is done, the real work starts. I block every single garment. This means I wet it, pin it to my floor or a towel, and let it dry in shape. It sounds simple, but it is the reason your crop top stays a crop top and does not stretch out after one wash.
Then comes the finishing. I weave in ends so securely they won't unravel even with machine washing, though I always recommend hand washing to be safe. For accessories like my bucket hats or desk buddies, I do the de-fuzzing process I mentioned. I also steam press everything to ensure the stitches look uniform and professional.
Whether I am working on a custom anime-inspired hat, a specific gift for a friend, or one of my popular mesh vests, I handle every piece like I am making it for myself. If you are in Mumbai or anywhere in India, I am ready to get those hooks moving for you.
