Understanding the Core Concepts
Our journey at Choe Khor Sum Ling begins with the understanding that the mind is not fixed. Through teachings on the Lamrim (Stages of the Path), we explore how our thoughts, actions, and perceptions shape our experience of reality. This cluster focuses on the essential pillars of Buddhist thought:
- Karma and Cause and Effect: Rather than abstract theory, we break down how our daily choices create the conditions for our future happiness or suffering. This practical approach helps you take accountability for your mental state.
- Mind Training (Lojong): We utilize ancient techniques to transform challenging emotions into opportunities for growth. This is about changing how we relate to our environment and ourselves.
- Impermanence and Death: While these topics can feel heavy, in the Tibetan tradition, they are viewed as powerful tools. Reflecting on the temporary nature of life helps us set priorities, let go of trivial stressors, and live with greater purpose.
- The Twelve Links: We examine the cycle of dependent origination to understand the root causes of suffering and how to break free from habitual patterns.
How We Study
These sessions are led by experienced Geshes, senior monks, and teachers from the FPMT network. You are not just getting philosophy; you are receiving guidance from practitioners who have dedicated their lives to these texts.
We structure our learning to be a hybrid experience. You can sit with us in our Bangalore centre in Domlur, enjoying the silence of the prayer hall, or log in from home. We provide study materials, recordings, and Q&A sessions to ensure the teachings connect with your life outside the centre. If you are new, start with our drop-in Sunday sessions to get a feel for the rhythm of our Dharma family.
Choe Khor Sum Ling
We are Choe Khor Sum Ling, a community in Domlur dedicated to sharing Tibetan Buddhist wisdom. Our teachers from the FPMT network guide us through these ancient texts, making them relevant to our lives in Bengaluru today. Whether you are curious or a longtime practitioner, you belong here.
