A close-up of a magnificent cushion-cut blue sapphire ring, framed by a brilliant halo of marquise and round diamonds. The studio lighting is carefully controlled to highlight the deep, saturated color of the sapphire and the fire of the surrounding diamonds, making it an ideal shot for a luxury brand's homepage or product detail page.

About Featured
Getting jewelry right is about managing reflection, not just having a camera. I use focus stacking and specific gemstone lighting to ensure that what your customer sees on their screen matches the physical piece, removing the guesswork from online purchasing.
The Technical Foundation
Every piece of jewelry I shoot requires a different approach to lighting. For diamond-heavy pieces like the halo rings in this gallery, I use a lighting setup that minimizes harsh metallic glare while maximizing the internal fire of the stones. Simply pointing a light at the product creates 'hot spots' that kill detail; instead, I use diffused light banks to wrap the piece, revealing the facets of the metal and the clarity of the gems.
Why Focus Stacking Matters
Standard photography often leaves parts of a ring blurry, especially at the macro level. I utilize focus stacking, which involves merging multiple high-resolution images to ensure the entire piece—from the front prong to the back band—is in sharp focus. This is critical for e-commerce, where customers zoom in to inspect quality. If the image isn't sharp, they don't buy.
Post-Production Workflow
My process doesn't end at the shutter release. My post-production includes:
- Deep Etching: Creating hand-clipped paths for clean, distraction-free backgrounds.
- Metal Retouching: Removing dust and manufacturing scratches that the naked eye often misses.
- Color Correction: Calibrating digital gold and gemstone hues to match the physical item under standard lighting conditions.
Whether you need clean catalog shots for a website or moody, creative campaign images, the goal remains the same: accuracy that drives sales.
