About Creative & Thematic Makeup
Thematic makeup requires more than just picking the right foundation; it is about skin texturing and pigment choices that hold up under studio lights. For my Devi Maa transformations, I use specific layering techniques to ensure the divine aura looks powerful and realistic in photographs without feeling like a mask.
When I approach a thematic project, I treat it like a mini-production. Whether you are looking for a Navratri look, a concept shoot, or a festive transformation, the goal is always to match the makeup to the character's story.
The Process
My creative work is built on understanding the concept first. If you want a traditional look, we focus on the intricate details of the culture, like the neem leaves for an Amman Devi look or specific embroidery for a Marwadi style. If it is a modern thematic shoot, we focus on bold colors, textures, and clever 'jugad' to create props or accessories that pop on camera.

- Skin Prep: Thematic looks often involve heavy paint or long hours under hot studio lights. I use sweatproof base creation techniques that I teach in my academy, ensuring the makeup stays intact.
- Color Theory: To get that divine or dramatic effect, knowing exactly how pigments interact with skin tones is essential. This is exactly what I teach my diploma students at the Mulund Academy.
- The 'Jugad' Factor: Some of the best shots come from using simple household items or accessories in unexpected ways. I love showing my clients and students how to turn a basic piece of jewelry into a statement hair accessory.
