Mastering the Basics: Learn Basic Mehendi Design
Always wanted to draw your own mehendi but didn't know where to start? My foundation workshops are all about getting that cone control right, from basic lines to beautiful patterns.
We start with Day 1 fundamentals to build your muscle memory. This video shows practice drills for essential henna elements including lines, spirals, dots, and humps, which are the building blocks of all designs.
On Day 2, we progress to creating simple patterns. This clip demonstrates how to draw various check and lattice designs, a versatile technique used for filling spaces in both simple and intricate mehendi.
About Mastering the Basics
The biggest hurdle isn't creativity, it’s control. In these sessions, we don't jump straight into complex bridal patterns. We start by mastering the pressure of the cone and getting your hand steady on paper. Once you can draw a straight line and a perfect spiral without your hand shaking, the rest of the design just flows naturally. You’ll be using my handmade organic cones during practice so you get used to the exact texture you’ll use on skin.
Building Your Muscle Memory
Many people think you need to be a natural artist to learn henna, but that is not the case. It is actually about mechanics. My 5-day foundation workshop is designed to demystify the process for beginners who have never held a cone before.
We focus on these key areas:
- Cone Control: This is the foundation of everything. We spend time on holding techniques and pressure management. If you cannot control the flow of the paste, you cannot control the design.
- Fundamental Elements: Before we attempt flowers or vines, we drill lines, dots, humps, and spirals. These elements are the building blocks of every mehendi style, from simple Arabic designs to heavy bridal work.
- Layout Theory: I teach you how to structure a design on the back of the hand so that it looks balanced and clean rather than cluttered.
Why Practice with Organic Cones?
People often ask, 'Itna gehra rang kaise aata hai?' (How do you get such a deep color?). The secret is using fresh, organic henna paste. In class, you won't be practicing with store-bought chemical cones. You will be using the same handmade organic cones that I use for my bridal clients. This helps you get a feel for the consistency, texture, and smell of real henna from day one.
How It Works
- Duration: 5 sessions of 60 minutes each, Monday to Friday, or flexible timing.
