Sufi-Inspired Paintings for Spiritual Spaces
I paint the dance of remembrance. These acrylic canvases capture the whirling dervish in a moment of divine surrender, bringing peace and movement into your home.
This is a triptych, a set of three canvases, that tells a story of spiritual dance. Each panel features a faceless whirling dervish against a deep blue background, surrounded by Arabic calligraphy that flows with their movement.
A video showing two of the three dervish paintings. The camera pans between the figures, capturing the sense of motion and the deep, mystical blue of the background.
Two of the dervish paintings from the triptych, displayed on an easel in my studio. This view shows how they work together as a pair.

About this collection
When I paint these whirling dervishes, the most frequent request I get is to weave specific calligraphy like 'Kun Fayakun' into the flow of their robes. I use heavy-body acrylics for depth, creating a triptych effect that requires careful balancing so the motion of the figures continues seamlessly across all three panels.
My approach to Sufi art is about capturing the 'Sama'—that spiritual dance of the soul. When you order a canvas, you aren't just buying a painting; you are commissioning a piece that fits the energy of your wall.
I intentionally leave the dervishes faceless. This isn't an oversight, it is a choice to make the art universal, representing anyone who seeks connection and peace. The process begins with selecting the right palette. While deep blues and gold are my signature for this collection, I work with you to match the colors to your interior decor.
Technically, these are gallery-wrapped acrylic paintings. I use heavy-body paints to build texture, ensuring the movement of the robes feels tangible rather than flat. If you choose a triptych, I ensure the transition between the three canvases is fluid, making it look like one continuous story unfolding across your space.
Whether you need something for a living room or a dedicated prayer corner, the placement matters. These pieces often serve as a focal point, drawing the eye and grounding the room. Because I paint each one by hand, no two pieces are identical. When you talk to me about an order, tell me which verses resonate with you, and I will incorporate them into the composition, making the art uniquely yours.

I am Mustafa. For me, painting isn't just about putting color on canvas, it is a form of prayer. Whether I am capturing the whirling dervish or etching sacred calligraphy, I want you to feel that same sense of surrender and peace in your own space.
