The Awakening Cycle Collection
A sculptural journey exploring inner transformation through textured forms, hand-sculpted paper, and the language of mudras.
This piece from "The Awakening Cycle" represents the cyclical nature of our growth. The textures mimic a shifting soulscape, where fragility and strength coexist in a delicate balance, highlighted by the golden hands.
This artwork reflects the quiet space where one chapter of life dissolves into the next. The intertwined hands represent the self-love we require to evolve, while the textures suggest clarity and versatility within.
Every transformation carries a golden passage. This work embodies that threshold, where vulnerability becomes strength and silence opens into possibility. The hands are caught in a moment of becoming.
Sharing my work at the prestigious Jehangir Art Gallery was a true milestone. In this video, I speak about how art lives in the connection it creates and what this "Awakening" series means to me.
In this Q&A, I explain what "Awakening" means to me. It's a cycle of unfolding, and I discuss my choice of materials like upcycled paper and fibre to express the flowing movement and layered texture of personal growth.
Mudras are the art of speaking without words. The golden hands in this sculpture form a gesture of inner knowing and connection, a silent language of the soul.
The hands in this piece convey a sense of gentle self-compassion. It's a mudra of acceptance, a quiet acknowledgment of one's own journey and the process of becoming.
About this collection
Each piece in this series is crafted from upcycled paper and fibre, chosen specifically for how they catch and hold shadows. Because these are hand-sculpted, every piece reacts to light differently depending on your space, so I am happy to hop on a quick video call to show you how the depth and textures shift throughout the day.
The Awakening Cycle is an exploration of the moments where we pause and listen to ourselves. When I started researching this series, I spent months looking for a medium that was both strong and gentle, which led me to combine fibre with paper. Paper is my absolute favourite material to work with because it is incredibly versatile. It allows me to build layers that feel fluid, mimicking the non-linear path of personal growth.
Each sculpture in this collection features hands forming specific mudras. I see these hands as a silent language of the soul. Whether they represent a moment of self-compassion or the threshold of a new beginning, they are meant to be a reminder of the inner balance we all seek. I created these pieces in my Mumbai studio, ensuring that each fold and curve holds intention.
I have exhibited this series at the Jehangir Art Gallery, and I love discussing how different pieces fit into a home or a commercial space. If you are interested in a piece for your own collection, or if you want to know more about the materials I use, I am always happy to chat about the process. We can even discuss custom sizing if you have a specific wall in mind.
