About Corporate & Sundowner Events
My approach for corporate events is all about the build. I start with light, melodic Afro House or deep tech tracks that allow people to network comfortably, then gradually increase the tempo as the evening shifts into party mode. It is a balancing act of keeping the energy alive without ever overpowering the room or the conversations happening at the tables.
How I Handle Corporate & Sundowners
Corporate gigs and sundowners require a different mindset than a late-night club set. For corporate galas and brand mixers, I focus on a mix that appeals to everyone. I keep the playlist tight, blending safe commercial hits with modern beats so the interns and the CEOs are both enjoying the music. If you need someone to make an occasional announcement or handle the MC duties for toasts, I can cover that too.
The Sundowner Vibe
Daytime sessions are my favourite to play. Whether it is an open-air café, a rooftop, or a lounge, I lean into Afro House and Melodic Techno. These genres provide a relaxed, rhythmic backdrop that feels sophisticated yet fun. It is not about forcing a dance floor rager at 4 PM—it is about creating an atmosphere where people can relax with a drink while the music provides the pulse.
Technical Requirements
To make sure everything runs smoothly:
- Equipment: I bring my MacBook Pro and my music library, but I need the venue to provide a reliable sound system and a standard Pioneer DJ controller (CDJ or DDJ series).
- Setup: I always arrive 60 minutes before the first guest to run a sound check. I want to make sure the volume levels in the corners and the centre of the room are balanced correctly.
- Collaboration: I have experience working alongside percussionists, saxophonists, and other live acts if you are planning to add extra flair to your event.
