Sipadan is a bucket-list destination for any diver, and we make the journey easy. Stay on a unique converted oil rig, dive with massive schools of barracuda, and explore Malaysia's best reefs with our Bengaluru-based community.

This is the classic Sipadan experience: a diver dwarfed by a massive school of jackfish. We are thrilled to announce our next trip to this incredible location.

Let's dive the waters around Sipadan. This marine protected area is famous for its huge schools of fish, turtles, and sharks. My amateur videos don't do it justice.

Here's a little tour of the Seaventures Dive Rig. It's a decommissioned oil rig converted into a resort, and it's our home base for Sipadan. The best part? Unlimited diving right off the platform.

My money shot from the Sipadan trip: this incredible waterfall of jacks. The sheer density of life here is something you have to see to believe.

You can't go to Sipadan without bumping into the resident school of bumphead parrotfish. These guys are huge, growing up to 1.5 meters long.

A diver gracefully swimming through a school of fish in Sipadan. This is the kind of immersive experience that makes the long journey worth it.

The magic begins. Our group arriving at the Sipadan Island Park Office, ready to explore one of the world's top diving destinations.

This is what it takes to get to paradise. A journey by air, land, and sea to reach the legendary Seaventures Dive Rig in Sipadan. It's a bucket list trip for a reason.

I was pretty stunned when this cuttlefish decided to ink me. It was a first for me, and a reminder that the ocean is full of surprises.

While Sipadan is known for big fish, the surrounding islands like Mabul offer incredible macro life, like this beautiful Phyllidiella pustulosa nudibranch.

About Malaysia: Diving the Legendary Sipadan

We base our trips on the Seaventures Dive Rig, a decommissioned oil platform. Unlike standard resorts, you can gear up and dive the house reef right off the rig as much as you want. It is steady and comfortable, which is a huge bonus if you prefer avoiding the motion sickness that sometimes comes with daily boat-based diving.

Why Sipadan is on Every Diver's Map

Sipadan Island is a marine protected area in the Celebes Sea, and it is widely considered one of the top dive sites on the planet. The sheer density of life here is the main draw. You are almost guaranteed to swim through massive, swirling schools of barracuda and jackfish, which form the famous tornadoes this area is known for. You will also see large schools of bumphead parrotfish and plenty of reef sharks.

The Seaventures Rig Experience

Living on the Seaventures Dive Rig is an adventure in itself. It is a unique structure located just off the coast of Mabul Island. Because the rig is stationary, you don't have to worry about the movement of a liveaboard boat. The rig features a lift system that lowers you directly into the water, giving you access to unlimited shore diving on the house reef. After your dives, you can relax on the sun deck, chat with other divers, or enjoy the meals served on board.

What to Expect Beyond Sipadan

While Sipadan is the star, the surrounding islands like Mabul and Kapalai are treasure troves for macro photography. If you are interested in smaller critters, keep an eye out for:

  • Nudibranchs in vibrant colors
  • Camouflaged frogfish hiding on the reef
  • Blue-ringed octopus
  • Ribbon eels
