The Power of Journaling for Mindfulness and Clarity
Journaling isn't just about recording memories, it is a way to see what is really going on inside your mind. I keep four separate notebooks for different needs, and I teach this practice to help you quiet your thoughts and find your own answers.
People say journaling is important, and I agree. In this video, I share my personal practice of using four different journals for various purposes: one for mantra research, one for travel memories, one for chanting, and one for daily thoughts.
How many journals are too many? For me, each one serves a purpose in my journey of self-discovery. This short video is a playful look at my collection and a reminder of the profound wisdom that can be found in the simple act of writing.
About The Power of Journaling
Don't feel like you need one fancy diary for everything. I use four distinct journals: one for mantra research, a travel log for memories, a dedicated chanting book, and one for raw daily thoughts. This helps me keep my 'research' separate from my healing, which makes the habit much easier to maintain. When you are just starting, pick one specific purpose—like gratitude or unloading stress—and see how that small shift changes your day.
Writing things down is how we get out of the 'mind full' state and into mindfulness. Many people find the blank page intimidating, but it is just a mirror for your energy.
How I Organize My Practice
I don't believe in rigid rules for journaling. I let the purpose of the journal dictate the format:
- The Mantra Research Journal: This is for the technical side of my work, keeping track of mantras and spiritual research so I can share it with those who need it.
- The Travel/Memory Journal: We often forget the lessons we learn on the road. Writing about trips—like my visit to the Kamakhya temple—helps me anchor the experiences.
- The Chanting Journal: This is purely for peace. When I feel overwhelmed, I write mantras here. It is a grounding exercise that shifts my energy immediately.
- The Daily Flow: This is where everything else goes. It is unpolished, honest, and completely for me.
Why Start Journaling?
It is not about perfect handwriting or beautiful prose. It is about emotional healing and behavioral change. In my mindfulness sessions, I help you move from venting to gratitude journaling, which is a powerful way to reduce stress. If you are struggling with a relationship, career dilemma, or just general anxiety, writing down your thoughts acts as a bridge to your Antaratma, or inner voice.
If you want to start your own practice but don't know where to begin, I can help you structure a routine that fits your life. It is not about forcing your mind to be empty, but about being aware of your thoughts without judging them.
