About this collection
When shooting Indian cuisine, the biggest challenge is maintaining that fresh, vibrant look while managing rich, often oily textures. I bring my own props, including traditional brassware, wooden bowls, and banana leaves, to ensure the setup complements the specific dish. By handling both styling and photography myself, I maintain full control over the lighting to capture the steam, the depth of the gravy, and the precise crispness of items like dosas, saving you the coordination time of hiring separate stylists.
My Approach to Indian Food Photography
Indian food relies on color, texture, and steam to trigger appetite. A flat, overly bright image often kills the appeal of a rich dal makhani or a spicy rogan josh. I use my Nikon Z8 with macro lenses to get close to the action, focusing on details like the garnish, the sheen of the oil, and the texture of the bread.
Why Styling Matters
For menu shoots, we are not just taking a picture of food; we are selling the experience. I curate the background, the surface, and the props for every setup. Whether it is a rustic look for dhaba-style food or clean, modern plating for fine dining, the props serve the dish, not the other way around. My kit includes curated ceramics, textiles, and traditional Indian vessels to provide an authentic aesthetic that resonates with customers.
Service for Restaurants & Brands
I offer dedicated menu photography packages designed for digital platforms like Zomato and Swiggy, as well as high-end advertising shoots for campaigns.
- Menu & Delivery App Refresh: Focuses on 20-30 semi-styled images designed for mobile screens, emphasizing clear, appetizing visuals.
- Creative Hero Shots: Conceptual shots featuring action elements like steam or garnish drops, perfect for print ads or social media headers.
- Workflow: I work on-site at your restaurant or in my studio. My goal is consistency. Whether we are shooting a simple idli-sambar breakfast or a full-course North Indian thali, the lighting and framing will be uniform across your entire menu.
If you have a menu refresh coming up, I can help you plan the setups based on your restaurant's specific culinary identity.
Abhishek Vats
I’m Abhishek. I’ve spent years obsessing over how to make Indian dishes look as good as they taste on camera. I handle both the camera and the styling myself because the texture of a curry or the crispness of a paratha tells the story, and I make sure it hits the frame perfectly every time.
