The secret to that deep color is not magic, it is about the quality of the paste and your patience. I use organic, home-mixed henna, but the final result depends on you keeping the paste on for at least 6 hours and staying away from water for a full day. If you follow these steps, you will get that rich, dark stain you see in these photos. 😌

Most people focus only on the design, but when the henna fades, the stain is what stays. I create designs that look beautiful when applied, but my real goal is that dark maroon shade that develops a day later. That is the true test of good mehendi.

I avoid chemical cones that promise instant, black-dye results. Those often contain additives that can irritate your skin or cause allergic reactions. My paste is natural and fresh. Because it is organic, it takes time to develop. You need to be patient for the color to oxidize and turn from a light orange to a deep, warm brown.
