Master Close-Up Magic: Coins, Cards & Chips
I don't just teach tricks. We go deep into the mechanics, misdirection, and psychology that turn a simple move into a real moment of wonder.
A performance of the classic 'Twisting the Aces' plot. This effect is a study in clear, economical movements to create a powerful illusion with playing cards.
This poker chip routine, called Spellbound, involves a series of visual transformations. We work on the specific finger positions and timing needed to make the changes look seamless.
Another one of my poker chip sequences, focusing on a visual color change. This is a great example of how to use misdirection on a small scale for close up magic.
A simple, direct coin vanish from a TikTok video. Mastering the basics like this is the foundation for all advanced sleight of hand with coins.
An older video of me practicing a one coin routine back in 2014. It shows the evolution of a trick and how handling develops over years of practice.
About Close-Up Masterclass: Coins, Cards & Chips
When you watch me perform the Spellbound routine, you might think it is all about finger speed, but the secret is actually in the angle control and where I force your eyes to look. In this masterclass, we do not just repeat moves until our hands ache. We focus on fixing your grip, timing, and posture, so you stop fighting against your audience's gaze and start leading it.
Magic is a tough, lonely path, and I am here to share the shortcuts I wish I had known when I started. These workshops are for the serious student who wants to understand the 'why' behind the 'how.' We strip away the YouTube tutorial noise and get into the real work.
What We Break Down
- Coin Mechanics: From the Spellbound routine to ring-to-coin transformations, we check your angles and timing until the illusion is seamless.
- Card Sleights: We work through the Royal Scam and Twisting Ace, focusing on grip correction and economy of motion.
- Psychology & Misdirection: This is the difference between a puzzle and a performance. You will learn how to control attention, manage hecklers, and link separate tricks into a cohesive act.
My Philosophy
I’ve performed over 3000 shows across 20 countries, from cruise ships to small halls. I have seen the disaster moments and the magic. My sessions are honest—I tell you about the reality of cruise ship performance, the physical toll of practice, and why stage presence will always beat raw technical skill. Whether you are struggling with a difficult card pass or looking to structure a ten-minute set, we solve the problem together. My goal is to build a community of magicians who actually understand the craft.
