About Highlights & Shadows: The Art of Monochrome
Monochrome photography isn't a filter to us. It is a deliberate choice to focus entirely on the connection between you, the texture of a fabric, or the intensity of a stolen look. By removing color, we force the eye to see the geometry of your day—the highlights on your smile and the deep shadows that frame the quiet moments. It is an honest, timeless way to archive your wedding that feels as meaningful today as it will decades from now.
Photography is, at its core, the study of light. When we shoot in black and white, we are chasing the way light interacts with your day—the dramatic contrast during an evening ceremony or the soft, grainy light of a morning portrait session.
We often find that color can be a distraction. In a busy, vibrant Indian wedding, a sea of marigolds or deep reds can sometimes overwhelm the actual emotion of the couple. Converting a frame to black and white strips away those distractions. It highlights the nuance. It makes the groom's expression clearer, the bride's reflection in a mirror more poignant, and the silhouette against the Mumbai skyline more cinematic.
Our approach is documentary-first. We aren't looking to create posed, static images that look like everyone else's. We are looking for the in-betweens—the moments when you aren't looking at the camera. Whether it is a quiet look before the pheras or a chaotic, joyful moment during the haldi, monochrome gives these fleeting seconds a gravity and a lasting quality that demands attention. We believe this is the most powerful way to tell your love story.
