About this collection
You do not need a dozen products to get these waves. The secret lies in the direction of your tonging. When you clamp outward, away from the face, you get that classic Hollywood wave that holds shape for hours. I teach this specific movement in my classes, ensuring you get the volume right from the root, not just the ends.
Creating flowing open hairstyles is more about planning than just curling. When I teach this, we start with the fundamentals of sectioning. Whether you are using a heat-resistant protein fiber dummy or 100% human hair, you need a head that can handle temperatures up to 190 degrees without damaging the hair texture.
Why Practice Matters
Most students struggle with volume at the crown. My approach is to use dust powder or light backcombing strictly at the root before we even touch the tongs. This gives your waves a base to sit on. If you are prepping for a client's engagement, balance is everything. We look at the face shape to decide where to place the curls—side-swept for a classic look or centered for a more romantic, bridal aesthetic.
My Teaching Approach
I believe in 'choti-choti magar moti baatein' (small but significant things). That is why my training is not just about the final look. It is about understanding:
- Sectioning: How to divide hair so the curls flow naturally.
- Tool Handling: Using your tong to create consistent curl patterns.
- Long-Lasting Hold: Managing the balance between hair spray and movement.
I offer both in-person training at my Janakpuri academy and online support, so you can learn these techniques regardless of your location. If you are just starting, I recommend beginning with a protein fiber training head, which is perfect for practicing these heat-intensive styles until you get the movement perfect.
