About Art in Monochrome
I don't use black and white as a simple filter. I treat it as a tool to remove the distraction of color, especially in the middle of a chaotic Indian wedding. When the decor is loud and the venue is vibrant, these monochrome frames allow me to focus entirely on the connection between you and your partner, ensuring the raw emotion remains the center of the story.
There is a specific kind of honesty in a black and white image. Without the visual noise of bright lehengas or elaborate decor, your eyes are forced to settle on what really matters—the tension in a hand, the softness of a smile, or the quiet focus in a groom's expression.
I often switch to monochrome during the 'in-between' moments. While the stage and rituals have their place in color, the candid interactions—the way your father watches you walk away, or the exhaustion shared between the two of you after the sangeet—carry a different weight. These photos don't feel dated by the trends of the season because they aren't about the dress you wore or the lighting of the venue. They are about the feeling.
Technically, this requires a different approach to lighting. I look for high contrast, deep shadows, and natural light that accentuates textures rather than just colors. Whether it is a moody portrait in a dim hallway or a laughing candid on the dance floor, my goal is to create a gallery that feels like a classic, silent film of your day. It’s an approach for those who want their wedding story to be as timeless as the feelings that started it.
