Portraits in Place: Authentic Home Photography
I believe the best backdrop isn't a studio, but the space where you actually live. I document your moments right where you feel most comfortable.
This was a beautiful moment captured at the groom's ancestral home, an old 'vada' in Pune. The rustic charm of the balcony, with its weathered shutters and collection of plants, provided a perfect, personal setting for this post-wedding portrait.
About Portraits in Place
When I shoot portraits at your home, we don’t move your furniture to create a fake setup. Instead, we hunt for the corner with the best natural light, whether it’s the balcony or that one chair by the window. It means your photos look like your life, not a studio catalog, but it does mean we need to plan the time of day based on where the sun hits your rooms.
I believe the best setting for a portrait isn’t a studio with a plain backdrop, it’s the place you call home. Whether it’s an old Pune vada or a modern apartment, your home has a specific texture, a way the light falls, and a history that a studio just cannot replicate.
When we plan your shoot, we start with a quick conversation about which parts of your house you love the most. Maybe it’s that morning coffee spot or the balcony with your collection of plants. I’m not interested in forcing you into stiff poses. I want to capture how you actually exist in these spaces.
The process is simple. I bring my Nikon, maybe a light if the shadows are too deep, and we spend time just hanging out. We focus on natural light photography to keep things honest. If you have kids or pets, even better. The chaos is usually where the best moments happen.
Because I’m based in Pune and shoot regularly across the Mumbai Metropolitan Area, I’m used to navigating different types of homes. I don't look for Insta-perfect aesthetics. I look for the truth of the day. If you want photos that feel like real memories rather than a magazine spread, let's talk.
