This project was for the Bal Samagam exhibition. I was responsible for painting the backdrops, including the train mural, and creating custom 3D props like this lotus centerpiece to fit the event's theme.
About Custom Event & Exhibition Art
When planning exhibition or event art, the biggest hurdle is usually lead time for custom props. Because I handcraft everything in my Mumbai studio—like the lotus centerpieces or train murals you see here—I need at least 15 days of notice for complex installations to ensure the finish is perfect. If you have a last-minute requirement, I can still do live on-site sketching or quicker wall treatments, but those large 3D structures definitely need that extra time to set.
For exhibitions like Bal Samagam, the art has to do more than just look good. It has to guide the visitor through the narrative. Whether I am crafting a train mural or a 3D lotus centerpiece, my process starts with understanding the event theme and the space constraints. I work out of my Malad studio in Mumbai, where I prep the base structures and sketches so that installation on-site is fast and clean.
My approach covers everything from large-scale backdrops to small interactive props. I use weather-proof paints for outdoor exhibition setups and lightweight, durable materials for indoor installations.
