Laser Tattoo, Birthmark & Pigmentation Removal
Using advanced Q-switched laser technology, I help you clear unwanted tattoos and deep pigmentation. We focus on a step-by-step process that respects your skin’s health while targeting the pigment precisely.
This video shows a QSW-ND YAG laser procedure for a birthmark. I first cleanse the skin, and then the laser emits short pulses of light that are absorbed by the pigmented cells, breaking them down.
Here you can see a Q-switched laser tattoo removal session in progress. The laser works by targeting the ink particles in the skin, breaking them down so your body can naturally clear them away over time.
This shows a case of Nevus of Ota, a type of birthmark, which I treat with a Q-Switch Nd-YAG Laser. This advanced treatment is designed to refresh and renew the skin by reducing such pigmentation.
My skin pigmentation treatments are designed to address shadows and uneven tone, revealing your skin's natural radiance. A consultation helps me create a plan tailored to your specific needs.
About Tattoo, Birthmark & Pigmentation Removal
I begin every case with a visual assessment to gauge the depth of the ink or pigment. This allows me to select the exact laser wavelength needed to break down the particles without damaging your surrounding skin. My priority is safety, which is why I use topical numbing and cooling to keep the procedure comfortable from start to finish.
How the Process Works
Removing tattoos or birthmarks is not an instant fix. It is a scientific process of light energy absorption. I use Q-switched Nd:YAG lasers, which emit very short, high-energy pulses. These pulses are absorbed by the ink or pigment, breaking the particles down into tiny fragments. Your body then naturally clears these fragments over the following weeks. This is why we schedule sessions with gaps in between—it allows your skin to heal and the body to do its job.
What to Expect During Treatment
- Assessment: First, I check the depth and color of the pigment to choose the right wavelength (1064nm or 532nm).
- Preparation: We apply a topical numbing cream 30 to 45 minutes before the session to minimize discomfort.
- The Laser Session: I perform the procedure personally. You may feel a sensation like a rubber band snap, but the cooling gel and air blowers help manage this.
- Aftercare: We clean the area, apply a soothing ointment, and provide sterile dressing instructions. Keeping the area dry and protected from the sun for 72 hours is non-negotiable for good results.
Why Medical Expertise Matters
Many people think laser removal is straightforward, but it carries risks like burns or scarring if not managed correctly. I perform these procedures myself to ensure we don't overtreat the area. Whether you are removing a professional tattoo or managing a condition like Nevus of Ota, my goal is to deliver clear results safely. If you have a history of keloid scarring, we will discuss this during your consultation to determine if laser treatment is the safest route for you.
