About Removal of Moles, Warts & Skin Tags
Before we begin any removal, I perform a dermoscopy check to confirm that the lesion is benign. During the procedure, the CO2 laser allows me to vaporize the target tissue layer by layer with high precision. This accuracy is key to ensuring the surrounding healthy skin remains untouched, which drastically reduces the likelihood of scarring compared to older excision methods.
How the Procedure Works
Many patients come to me worried that removal will leave a mark. The advantage of using a CO2 laser is that it cauterizes as it cuts. This means there is almost no bleeding, and the precision allows me to keep the skin surface level. For larger moles, I use local anesthesia, so you will not feel any pain during the vaporization.
What to Expect
For smaller skin tags or DPNs (Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra), the process is quite fast. You might feel a sensation similar to a light pinch or a quick spark, but it is very manageable.
After the session, a small crust will form over the treated area. This is a natural part of the healing process. It usually falls off on its own within 5 to 7 days, revealing fresh, clear skin underneath. I will provide you with specific aftercare instructions, including the use of antibiotic ointment and strict sun protection, to ensure the best possible cosmetic result.
Why Medical Expertise Matters
It is tempting to look for quick fixes at home, but please do not try to remove moles or warts yourself. Incorrect removal can lead to infections or deep, permanent scars. When you visit my clinic, we are not just removing a spot; we are assessing your skin health. If I have any concerns about a growth, we will discuss that before any laser work begins. My priority is your safety and your long-term skin health.
