Ayurvedic Treatment for Joint & Spine Conditions
Joint and spine issues are often your body asking for balance. I help you decode these signs—from sciatica to arthritis—using ancient Ayurvedic wisdom to find the root cause, not just temporary relief.
This image shows a person experiencing knee pain, a common symptom of arthritis. Recognizing the signs is the first step toward seeking effective, natural treatment.
The common symptoms of arthritis include joint pain, swelling, stiffness, and reduced motion. Early diagnosis and Ayurvedic treatment can help manage these symptoms and improve joint health.
Did you know arthritis is not just for the elderly? It can affect people of all ages, causing pain and reducing mobility. Ayurveda offers treatments that can help manage the condition regardless of age.
On Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Day, it is important to understand that this is an autoimmune condition. My approach focuses on holistic healing through diet, herbs, and lifestyle changes to manage symptoms naturally.
This visual illustrates the path of the sciatic nerve, helping you understand how pain can radiate down the leg. My blog provides further details on how Ayurveda can offer relief without invasive procedures.
Sciatica can be debilitating, but Ayurvedic treatments can effectively manage the condition. This image represents the sharp pain often felt in the leg, a condition I address with Vata-pacifying therapies.

About this collection
Before we discuss any therapy, we start with a 30-minute Nadi Pariksha (pulse diagnosis) to understand your specific Dosha imbalance. This assessment is essential because the root cause of your sciatica or arthritis is likely different from someone else’s. We then map out a treatment plan that pairs targeted therapies—like Janu Basti for knees or Kati Basti for back pain—with necessary lifestyle adjustments to help your body heal from the inside.
Understanding the Root Cause
In Ayurveda, joint and spine conditions are predominantly linked to an aggravated Vata Dosha. Vata governs movement; when it goes out of balance—due to improper diet, stress, or lifestyle habits—it leads to dryness and stiffness in the joints and spine. This is why we don't just treat the pain site; we focus on calming the Vata system.
Conditions We Manage
I work with a variety of chronic conditions using natural, non-invasive protocols:
- Arthritis (Sandhivata): Focuses on reducing inflammation and restoring lubrication through therapies like Janu Basti.
- Sciatica: Targeted at decompressing the nerves and soothing the lower back through localized oil therapies and herbal fomentation.
- Osteoporosis: Strengthening bone density through internal herbal medicine and external oleation (Abhyangam).
- General Stiffness: Relieving muscular tension caused by modern sedentary habits.
The Healing Process
Ayurveda requires patience. My approach follows a structured path:
- Diagnosis: A physical exam combined with Nadi Pariksha to identify the specific Prakriti (constitution).
- Therapy: Intensive protocols like Niruja Chikitsa (8-15 days) or targeted Basti treatments (oil pooling).
- Guidance: You will receive a specific Pathya Apathya (Do's and Don'ts) chart. This is critical. Without modifying the lifestyle habits that triggered the issue, the pain is likely to return.
Ahara Shuddhau Sattva Shuddhih—when our intake (food and lifestyle) is pure, our entire system becomes pure. If you are ready to put in the effort, we can work together to restore the balance your body is currently lacking.
