About My Fight for Senior Citizens' Rights
Before jumping into a legal notice, we first check if you meet the specific eligibility under the 2007 Act. Many people assume they need a long court battle, but often, the Maintenance Tribunal at the SDM office offers a much faster resolution for parental support claims. I sit with you to verify your documents and decide the best path forward, so we do not waste time or money on the wrong legal forum.
When family support stops, the law does not. Under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007, both sons and daughters have a strict legal duty to support their parents. I see many clients who feel ashamed or scared to bring this up. I tell them, it is not about fighting, it is about your basic right to live with dignity.
How We Move Forward
- Eligibility Check: We do not file blindly. We review your situation to see if you qualify as a 'Senior Citizen' or 'Parent' under the Act and determine if the Tribunal or Civil Court is appropriate.
- The Notice: Sometimes, a formal legal notice via Registered Post acts as a wake-up call to the family. It clearly outlines the legal consequences of non-maintenance.
- Tribunal Representation: If notice fails, I represent you at the Maintenance Tribunal (SDM office). This is where the actual order for monthly maintenance is passed. I handle the paperwork, the evidence, and the arguments, so you do not have to run around.
I work across Delhi NCR and consult at the Rohini District Court. Whether you need a strategy session or full representation until the final order, I am transparent about the process and the expected timeline. My goal is to reduce your stress, not add to it.
