If you think you are camera shy, do not stress. We will just talk, walk, and grab coffee. The best shots happen when you are busy laughing at my bad jokes or lost in conversation, not worrying about where your hands are.
People often ask me, 'MJay, can we make it look like a movie scene?' My answer is simple: let us just make it look like you. My approach to candid city portraits is about blending into the chaos of Mumbai. Whether it is the golden light at Marine Drive or the structured lines of a heritage building at CST, the location is just the frame. You are the subject.
I do not believe in 'stiff pose' photography. After 11 years and 700 plus shoots, I know that real magic happens in the transition moments—the secret glance, the way you adjust your partner's hair, or the goofy laugh when someone trips. These are the moments that feel like 'old school love' but hit with a modern vibe.
For city shoots, we usually pick a time early morning to avoid the rush, or late afternoon for that soft golden hour glow. We can hit the vibrant streets of Colaba, or find a quiet corner in a park.
