A glimpse into my studio sessions and collaborative workshops, where music and movement finally find their rhythm together.

A workshop in Columbus, Ohio, where we were crafting a program on Devi. It is always fascinating to watch a dance performance take shape with a live orchestra.

Rehearsing for the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Annual Music & Dance Festival. The studio is where the concept, music, and movement come together.

नमस्कार. A rehearsal clip and invitation for my performance at the prestigious Madras Music Academy Dance Festival.

Rehearsing in New York with a wonderful team of musicians for the 'Dancing the Gods' festival. Collaboration with talented artists is always a joy.

Rehearsing with my students for 'Vaageya Manjari', a performance exploring the compositions of great Vaageyakaras (poet-composers).

Exploring a Nindā stuti, a piece about parental love and concern, for the Aharnish festival. The rehearsal process involves deep textual and emotional analysis.

Rehearsing for my presentation on the philosopher Sri Madhvacharya. My work often involves deep research into our philosophical heritage.

About this collection

When I rehearse, the music comes first. Whether we are a small group in my Bengaluru studio or a larger team preparing for a festival, I insist on working with a live music ensemble. This connection is not just artistic; it is technical. We spend hours aligning the footwork with the percussion and the expressions with the vocalist's nuance. If you are joining a workshop or choreography session, expect to focus heavily on this musical synergy, because that is where the soul of the performance resides.

My approach to choreography and training is rooted in the idea that dance is a complete package of performing, teaching, and creating. When I conduct rehearsals, we do not just learn sequences. We analyze the textual depth of the composition, whether it is a traditional piece by a poet-composer or a theme exploring the hero's journey.

For dancers preparing for their Rangaabhivandane or advanced students refining their abhinaya, my studio sessions focus on 'Angashuddhi' (precision of the body) and emotional honesty. I prioritize direct, in-person teaching where we can iterate on the choreography together.

I am particularly passionate about the Nayaka (hero) perspective, moving beyond standard repertoire to explore male emotions and themes through dance. My collaborative projects often involve integrating puppeteers, poets, and musicians to push the boundaries of Bharatanatyam. Whether we are designing stage geometry for a group show or tweaking the improvisation for a solo varnam, my goal is to guide you in finding your own voice within this timeless art form. If you are ready to dig deep into the nuances of movement and meaning, let us start that conversation.
