About Royal & Traditional Designs
My traditional bridal work relies on symmetry and density. Whether we are adding a doli scene or focusing on architectural jharokha patterns, I ensure the layout is balanced from tip to elbow. It takes about 4 to 6 hours for these intricate sets, and I use triple-sifted Rajasthani Sojat henna to ensure that deep maroon stain every bride wants.
While many couples ask for story-telling henna, there is an enduring grace to pure traditional motifs. I often create designs featuring royal elephants and majestic peacocks, arranged with geometric grids to maintain a clean, classic aesthetic. These designs are perfect for the bride who wants heavy coverage without including portraits or skyline elements. For these sets, I focus on the precision of the jharokha (palace window) detailing and ensuring that the negative space—the filler—does not clutter the main motifs. If you are worried about sitting for hours, my senior assistant works alongside me to handle the repetitive grid filling, which helps cut down your application time significantly. I also apply a lemon-sugar sealant to lock the color, ensuring the dark stain lasts well through your reception. Whether you choose to include a doli scene or prefer a completely abstract, non-figurative look, the final result will be rich, traditional, and photogenic.
