Traditional Mandap Decor & Ceremonial Setups
We create sacred spaces that blend cultural heritage with soulful design, featuring authentic elements like temple bells, banana leaves, and fresh, high-density floral artistry.

For this Telugu Nalugu ceremony, I designed a clean and sacred space under a tent. The mandap features a backdrop of white chrysanthemums with a prominent red Balaji Nama, creating a divine focal point for the rituals.

About Traditional Mandaps & Ceremonies
When we design your mandap, we prioritize structural integrity and negative space over heavy fabric backdrops. We work with the natural architecture of the venue—using classic wooden pillars or existing stone walls as a base—and layer them with high-density fresh chrysanthemums and authentic brass elements. This ensures your ceremony space feels grounded and sacred rather than temporary or cluttered.
Our approach to traditional ceremonies is rooted in the idea that the mandap is the heart of your wedding day. Whether it is a South Indian ritual at the Shankaraa Foundation or a specific Telugu Nalugu ceremony, we focus on materials that carry significance.
Why We Choose Specific Elements
We lean heavily on organic materials. Banana leaves provide a clean, structural green contrast that plastic drapes simply cannot match. We use fresh chrysanthemums and tuberoses not just for their scent, but for their specific texture and density, which allows us to create precise patterns like the Balaji Nama or traditional temple motifs.
Handling The Space
Every venue presents different challenges. In open-air spaces like The Secret Grove, we use the brick and natural light to our advantage, accenting with hanging brass temple bells and urulis filled with water and floating blossoms. If the venue lacks traditional architecture, we bring in our own carved wooden Chettinad pillars to create the sacred enclosure you expect.
Practical Considerations
- Florals: We typically use fresh marigolds, chrysanthemums, and tuberoses. We can adapt the color palette to your preference, though we find white and yellow offer the most classic, timeless aesthetic.
- Lighting: We avoid harsh, direct spotlights. Instead, we use warm par cans to highlight the floral density and brass props, maintaining a soft, divine glow that looks excellent in both candid photography and videography.
- Logistics: For traditional events, we require access 8-10 hours prior to the ceremony to ensure the floral work is fresh and the structural pillars are perfectly aligned.
